Believe it or not but the way game's industry is going, no matter what Powerhouse system you assemble, it is going to complete its shell life in at max. 2 years so forget about 4-5 year run.
In case of Gaming the Core2Duo processor is better than Quad Core so Processor:E8400 for Rs.8,650. For motherboard, make up your mind whether you want a SLi rig or a Crossfire one or none. So as you have only mentioned a Single GPU so for that case the Motherboard:Abit IX38 Quad GT for Rs.12,000. Graphics is one category where you can splurge ur dough and get anything on the spectrum. 8800GT is a good card but Old now so go for Zotac GTX 260 if you can, its price is 25,000. if you wait, price is only gonna drop. You haven't mentioned RAM, get a OCZ-OCZ2N1066SR2GK (2x1GB) Kit 1066MHz DDR2 costing 4,400. Otherwise you can always opt for a 2x1GB DDR2 800MHz Kit by Kingston or Transcend which will cost you onle 2,000.
For Display get the Dell's 22inch LCD. It supports res upto 1600x1050 and costs nearly 14,000. AFA ur Audio solution is concerned, On-board Ausio solution will suffice unless you are a big Audiophile. Keep your option for the speakers open. I've T6060, got 'em for 4K back in 2007 but believe you will wanna skip 'em.

@ksrao, go ahead with Dominator's configuration.

crossfired 4850 (18k)easily beats GTX 260. Also, Logitech X-540 is much better than T6060

As far as i know .. the heating prob of HD 48XX series cards is nt a big issue and can be solved by driver update or by setting fan speed manually.
And connecting two cards in crossfire is not so hard...
1. Insert both cards in their slots on motherboard ( same way u insert a single card )
2. U'll get a crossfire bridge with ur cards ( a small clip like data cable ), connect the two cards using this bridge.
3. Boot up the system and install crossfire drivers...

I havent setup any dual card config myself till now .. but i believe the procedure i mentioned is not much farther from the actual procedure (if at all) ...

Hope it helps.

thx guys.........after a lot of speculation and deliberation ive fianall zereod in to the foll config.........

Processor: E8400-Rs.8500/-
Mobo:MSI X48C PLATINUM-Rs.15000/-
Gfx Card: ATI RAdeon 4870( cant afford X2 rite now...will add another 4870 whenever necessary in future if that possible)-Rs18000(not sure abt the price)
Monitor: 22" LCD TFT Dell-14000/-
Speakers: Creative/Logitech/Altec Lansing 5.1-5000/-
RAM:Corsair 2*2GB C5 800:Rs.5500/-
Mouse and Keyboard: Rs.5000/-

Now that my total budget is Rs.70000 and the above config added exactly to Rs.7000.....can u guys suggest some PSU+Cooling solutions+Cabinet and anything else that i missed below Rs.10000/- as i can spare not more than Rs.10000

btw thx a tonn to dominator and snake ........u guys are great and ur inputs really helped.......thx guys

but game performance is more GPU dependant than CPU. An oced E8400 is more than enuf to juice 4870..if not a Crossfire 4870.

btw 4870 512 is bout 15k now. Try to get a 1GB version as 512 MB is too less and seems to limit the efficient GPU's full potential. No idea bout the price of 1Gb one, but wont be a bomb for sure.

1Gb 4870 is better than HD4850 in crossfire.

This is a card that can even kick GTX280's a$$ :)

after a year or two, if you feel that you need more, get another HD4870 and then have crossfire setup. :)

Also, try to get 24" Dell 248WFP because you have a perfect config for a FullHD setup. and FullHD starts at 1920x1080 which is the natvie resolution of 24" LCD's.

So you want Cabinet+PSU+Cooling Solution in 10K. Here are few combos:

  1. Antec 300 Gaming Cabinet + Cooler Master RP-600-PCAR(Extreme Power 600W) 4K+3K=7K.
  2. iBall Gamer Cabinet+ the above mentioned Power Supply(Stick to it as it is going to suffice all your power needs, present and Future easily). Cabinet is for around 2K+3K for PSU. In addition to this you'll need to spend around 1500 bucks more for couple of 120mm fans for cooling purposes. It brings total to 6.5K.
  3. OR you can go for the Cooler Master system. It includes CM 690 Black Cabinet and the aforementioned PSU(bought separately) 4600+3000=Rs.7,600
In case of Graphics card, your motherboard will support ATi cards only and does supports Crossfire so IMHO if you go for above PSU+Cabinet combo and get some cash sparing you can build yourself a 4850 Crossfire system. Palit 4850 costs Rs.11,500 and has 512MB DDR3 memory, 256Bit Bus Width, 73.6GB/s Bandwidth,800 Unified Shader Units,16 ROPs. While the Default GPU clock is 625 MHz, Palit has OCed it to 781MHz. Same goes for memory, default clock is 993MHz but OCed to 1150MHz by Palit. :p
ATi 4870 has 1GB of DDR5 memory but is expected to be for around 16-18K when it is launched. Safest bet is to go for the 4850 Crossfire as you will get 1Gb Memory plus the 2 Pixel Munching GPUs. If budget doesn't allows then even a single 4850 is enough as you can conclude from above mentioned data.

^^^

HD4870 costs around 15k outside.

and btw, you don't have to buy a 12k card just for oc'ing purpose. All you need to do is unlock the fan speed which is locked to a max of 30% and do the overclocking.

So, either get MSI/Sapphire/gigabyte HD4850 or HD4870.

My pick would be *www.gigabyte.in/Products/VGA/Produ...VGA&ProductID=2857&ProductName=GV-R487-512H-B

since it comes with dual DVI, VGA and HDMI ports.

I would suggest the ASUS Maximus Formula Motherboard, which comes in around 15k range, i had brought it for 14.5k in April. Also you get a Sufreme FX II sound card with the board. Here is the link of the board *in.asus.com/products.aspx?l1=3&l2=117&l3=0&l4=0&model=1889&modelmenu=1.

Also go for CoolerMaster CM690 Cabinet as it is spacious, and you can have lots of 120mm fans into the cabinet to keep your system cool.

Try to get a good Cooler for your processor.

I am planning to get a ThermalRight Ultra 90 Cooler with a good 90mm Fan to fix to the cooler.
