Im from Chennai. Im planning to buy a new comp in April ( after boards) as my current one is too ancient ( Celeron 1.3 Ghz ). My budget is Rs. 40 K but I can stretch it to 43 ~ 45 K. Im looking for a high performance computer for multitasking ( bigtime - like 5 applications running and 8 in background ). Im no gamer ( I get killed via head shot by 13 year olds often ) so Im not buying a graphics card. At max I might play CS, FIFA, etc.
Im mostly gonna be browsing, creating websites ( dreamweaver and photoshop ) and watching movies.
I want to get something which can last well for another 5 ~ 6 years.
Please give me feedback on the below config-
Monitor : 17" LCD - Budget arouund 11 K. Help me choose a brand. LCD is a must as I get headaches from CRTs.
Keyboard : Logitech Navigator Pro - Rs 450
Mouse : Plenty at ome
Speaker : Already got a creative 2.1
UPS : Something with a spike buster - Rs 2800 ( Powercuts here are very rare )
Now lets get down into the CPU
Case : some mid tower at Rs 200
Hardrive : Seagate 250 GB at Rs 2700
RAM : 1 GB at Rs 1000
Power supply - Rs 1000
Now what Im confused is with the processor, mother board and DVD writer.
I was eyeing the Quad Core Q 6600 but it is too much for my usage. So I think a C2D will be fine.
Supreme electronics is selling P965s for some Rs 5500.. so that would be fine.
What DVD writer should I buy? Some tell me to go for Samsung, some LG and some Sony.
