Yes, I'm a noobie but frequently but go through your threads every once in a while. Recently my computer crapped out. Though of getting myself a new rig at the same time salvaging what I can from my old pc. I narrowed it down to this. My budget is 38k.
Seagate Sata 2 200 GB 2900 ( I have serial ATA 320 gig HDD which I want to use along with it should I have problems?)
Transcend DDR 2 1 GB 800 Mhz 2550 X 2
Core 2 Duo 2.13 Ghz E6420 8550 (or should I go for the E6600)
XFX 650i-Ultra nForce 650i Ultra 5500 (I saw thier website found out this has onboard HD sound)
Altec Lansing VL-251 5.1 Spkrs 4250
XFX 8600GT256MB7400 (I'm not into gaming but want to watch HD stuff and enjoy all Vista effects so will this suffice)
I-Ball Gamer (With 400W SMPS)1750 (If I require a better SMPS go ahead tell me the right one)

So guys if you can help me out I would really appreciate it.:) Cheers...

1.HDD-it will work just fine
2.CPU-its a tuff one,but u might have a look at the 6600.dats a really good proccy.maybe u could siphon some cash from RAM buy buying 1GB*2 DDR II 667 Mhz

Rest are fine by my standards tho.
Happy buying!!:D

No pain....No gain
Certainly, not that Iball PSU at minimun try getting coolermaster eXtreme 600W or powersafe 500W or even colorsit 500W (if you are on very tight budget). Don't compromise on the SMPS. It may seem a costly investment but will help in long run.
The CM 600w would cost around 3.2k and the rest would come within 1.2k (check the prices with local vendor).

See, E6420 has a multiplier of 8x and E6600 has 9x. So, for overclocking E6600 is better but then budget is also an important factor. If E6600 comes with in your budget get it else settle for E6420.
But getting a C2D with good PSU and not overclocking is just a crime :D

I vote for E6420, Good Overclocker !!!!

:D

Cooler Master eXtreme 600 Watts is Rs. 3500/- in Kolkata where as ColorSit is also good, my 450 watts Costs me Rs. 1200/- + TAX... where as really its 450 watts whats why I can connect high amount of things to it while OCing High... so I thought of Getting that Coooler Master eXtreme 600 Watts

:D

So, I would say, Get E6420 and good PSU like Cooler Master eXtreme 600 Watts as in future u would be connecting stuff rather ripping stuff of, load will only increase !!! :p

P.S. Prices seems bit High !!!

250 GB is 2300 /- to 2500/- + TAX
E6420 @ Rs. 7800 + TAX
650i Untra @ 5000 /- + TAX
XFX 8600 GT Rs. 6800 /- + TAX !!!

Kolkata Prices TAX @ 4%

Seagate Sata 2 200 GB 2900 ( I have serial ATA 320 gig HDD which I want to use along with it should I have problems?)

Dont get one HDD now, as all SATA-II Bellow 320 GB here at India seems to be 8mb Buffered, as u have a large HDD, so wait till 16mb becomes common here :D

Hey FLoyd you can get a 250GB SATA2 HDD for that price... Get a Western Digital instead of Seagate since the former has 16 MB buffer as compared to 8 MB in Seagate... Performance is better too...
Also Intel has recently cut the prices of its proccys, but will take some time to reflect here...So I suggest you wait for a couple of weeks...Then maybe you can get a E6750 for the price of a E6420:)
And I would suggest you to stick with 800Mhz ram...It will help both in general and overclocking performance...
