friends i am having atypical problem. iwas trying to install a dvd writer (. at liteon).
at first the system does not recognised the drive and showed a message during boot up that
80 conductor cable cable(????!!!) is disconnected. the machine didnt boot then
i tried to connect it replacing my cd writer. after that i disconnected my dvd rom drive and replaced
it with the dvd writer. i got the same message but somehow the machine started but it was very slow.
i removed the dvd writer and put back the dvd rom. then i started the machine again and it run quite
normally except that all my songs and music videos were lost which were stored in a separate partition.
well i did tried to reinstall windows by formatting the c partition only.
but the partition was not formatted at all although it displayed that formatting was
almost complete( i tried to format the partition before reinstalling windows from win xp cd).
i have two hard disks. one is a 40 gb samsung another a 80 gb seagate.
windows is loaded on the 1st one and the songs mostly on mp3 format were on the 80 gb disk.
now when i start the computer in my computer it is showing the music partition is corrupted and unreadable.
iam using amd athlon 2600+ processor with asus a7v8x mobo. 768 mb ddr ram at 333mhz with win xp pro patched with sp2.
plz help guys. i had over 15gb of songs and music videos on that partition . is there any way i can retrieve those?

use tuneup utility and it helped me to restore some movies ,ie by mistake my bro deleted!

there are also some softwares available for data recovery.
use Google and check them out !
