Hi guys i am thinking to cf my HD 5770 . As of now my current resolution is 1280x1024 soon i am upgrading to FULL HD. if i am going to add another in 5xxx series which would be better 10-12k max. Will that CF works as amd 5xxx series CF can be done. Will that add performance boast.

I had doubt if do CF will there be a bridge out side to connect to monitor or i will be taking out in the either of the card. I know CF bridge is done inside as i got a cable when i got the HD 5770.

Let me know you thought in 5xxx series.

i had core 2 duo 2ghz may be upgrading to quad
2gb ram upgrading to 4gb
CM 600 watts

Suggest wait it out. The HD5770 should do good enough at reduced settings. CFx isn't recommended for a previous gen card soon to become 2 gens old.

My Recommendation:
Sell your HD 5770-->will fetch you around 4k
that means total budget is 16k now

buy this:
MSI R6950 Twin Frozr III Power Edition/OC

you can add same series card to CF them

consider two cards 5770 and 5850
if you Xfire them , then 5850 will down clock itself to match the ratings of 5770

i read an awesome article about the question you are asking on Tom's Hardware: Hardware News, Tests and Reviews
i was searching for that particular article on the forum threads and that site for last 20mins
but couldn't find that :(

meaning if you buy a HD5850 and add to your current HD5770, it's as good as buying another HD5770(performance wise), but as dumb as spending extra for nothing.

Firstly, you can't Crossfire HD 5770 with HD 5850/5870. Only with HD 5750/5770/6750/6770.**

I would personally avoid Crossfire with another card as HD 5770 doesn't scale well.

Try to hold your purchase till the next generation comes out like comp@ddict said.

Or sell your HD 5770 for around 5k, increase your budget with this money and buy HD 6950 2GB.

** this doesn't mean you can Crossfire HD 5850 with HD 6850. HD 6770 is a special case as it is nothing more than a rebranded HD 5770.

Do a crossfire using this-

Sapphire HD6750 @Rs.6000 x2 = Rs.12000
Never really makes sense crossfiring two lower mid-range cards as you usually can get a single card offering the same performance for the same price.

You cannot dock a 5770 to a 5850.

5830 can be connected to any other 5800 series card and the 5970.

it depends on the GPU core.

@OP your best option if you go CF is the 6770. put the 6770 on slot 1 and the 5770 on the lower slot.

You can also see the 6870 if its in your budget. Look for comparisons. Most probably the 5770 CF (since 6770 is a rebrand) will be the better bet.
