Having problem burning DVD's using my Liteon DVD Writer!

Recently I found that my Liteon DVD writer is giving me lots of problems burning DVD's. It is unable to burn some of the blank DVD's. I ended up wasting lot of blank DVD's coz it burns till it is around 1-3% and then the DVD is ejected with a message from Nero telling the burning process was aborted. Even if I'm able to burn some DVD's it takes a very long time. I was thinking maybe the problem was with the DVD's quality that I bought. I don't have problem reading DVD's, CD's etc. Is there some way I can check if there is any problem with my DVD Writer? My warranty is running out. So I want to be sure that I get it fixed before it goes completely bad.

Any suggestions from you all!

if warranty is about to run out and your dvd writer is about to fail...hallelujah! claim warranty as fast as you can and dont wait for solution on your own

Update the firmware from here

After you run that file (match more media) reboot immediately
