Judgement Time!!
Hey guys i have 2 hard disk...

1-250gb sata2 seagate

2-500gb sata2 seagate

Just now...while accessing some of my files, suddenly a message flashed that wright has failed or something & it couldn't save the files...i had 2 drives for 500gb that is i & j...i didn't pay attention to the windows msg as i thought it must be cd wright issues & after that the 2 drives seem to be misssing for the 500gb one...How did that happen??What happened to all my data???I checked the BIOS setup & it is just showing 250gb hard disk...what the hell just happened?

oh wow...Xenforo!!!
What do you mean by
suddenly a message flashed that wright has failed or something
and
as i thought it must be cd wright issues
The second one what you are trying to say is burning- or write.
Please use proper terminologies and spelling so that we can be on the same page and know the issue properly. If the hard drive is not getting detected on bios try using the different sata cable, different power sata cable and different sata port on the mobo.
Be advised- if you have the system with a sub standard power supply, possibility is there that damage is allready been done. Doing anything further might burn the hard drive (assuming there's no burn mark on the hard drive) and void the warranty. As of now, keep in mind that the data on the hard drive is as good as gone and hardware level hard drive data recovery is extremely expensive.

^^ You mean write- not wright :p.
The error which has come is most likely that the hard drive was on the verge of dying. I recommend to google and download HD tune and run an error scan on the 250GB hard drive. If you find bad sectors, back up the 250GB as well to prevent any further loss.
What??? Your screen blew up? If that's the case it could be anything from bad psu to anything to a bad surge protector/ups/wall socket/ faulty wiring/ no earthing/ sudden spike, etc. If you want, you can connect the 500GB hard drive on a completely different system.
Of course I would need your complete system configuration to find out possible issues.

Oh hey...my apologies for the spelling error...had run 250 gb on hdtune...it seemed fine....but my 500gb on smart fan has 0% fitness but 99% performance...

Erm...i have a crt screen which suddenly kind of blew off because a lot of smoke came from behind & i had to eventually run & switch off the power...i am currently using an lcd screen..comp seems to be running fine

Btw..something surprising happened...when i switched on the comp this morning,...it came back..all the drives came back...didn't chage anything but now it is identifying my hd & everything seems to be there in it....what the hell is this??

As said, to give further advice I will need to know your system's complete configuration. Do you use ups and/or surge protector by any chance?

ok my confi is

Asus M2AVM HDMI
1GB DDR2 TRANSCEND
1GB DDR2 TRANSCEND
250 GB SATA2 SEAGATE
500GB SATA2 SEAGATE
Altec lansing MX5021
Extreme cabinets with standard power supply(i will be upgrading this to Cooler master cm690 & cm 600w power supply)but for now i have the standard ones..
Nope i do not have ups...but i do have spike guard..does this qualify as surge protector or something?

Well I dont know which surge protector you have. The only near decent ones we get are those original mx ones but the best ones are APC and belkin surge protectors. Others are nothing but coupled with 20AWG wiring, a small copper coil and a substandard fuse. UPS comes with inbuilt surge protectors I believe. If the place you live in have power fluctuations it is vital to have a ups. That's something you need to find out.
The crt screen which you have- is it one of the old old where the power sockets is connected to the power supply or the ones which connects on the standard socket.
You need to get your house wiring checked first just to be careful. A series of hardware failure is indeed serious and something which shouldn't be overlooked. Get a good electrician- if you know a civil engineer or an architect, they normally have connections to really good and proper electricians who know how to check things properly.
I wouldn't recommend cm extreme 600w as it is an obsolete power supply by today's standards. There is a power supply guide on the forums so you can check that in regards to power supply. After confirming and checking that the wiring in house is proper- which also includes grounding, getting a proper surge protector/UPS (depending on your area's power stability) and a psu upgrade, you will need to run a stress testing to make sure other components are not verge of dying. I wouldn't advice to do any stress testing- heck I wouldn't advice to switchon the computer to prevent any further damage.
We have a UPS discussion but its on other forums since there is a UPS expert over there (well he is also an open source pro as well :D).

is extreme power is obsolete, then how about 550w real power??is that better??About power fluctuations here....am surprised because i have never heard or seen any power fluctuation problems here in mumbai...but i never thought ups would be that important to be honest..it kind of opened my eyes....:)...but still i will take your suggestion & chk my entire house's power line...

is this a case of bad sectors forming or exactly what is this prob??

Yes, Bad sectors will create issues to extract data from the hard drive. Hence certain data will not be easy to backup.
For your current configuration, corsair cx400 or antec EA 430w is enough. If you are planning to do certain upgrade like graphic cards and some hard drives/rams/sound card, etc. the choice for that needs to be made accordingly. The alternate for real power 550w is corsair vx550 and antec EA 650w.

Erm....i will be making future upgrades...the things are as mentioned some already are a cm690 cabinet...a graphics card for sure but not sure which one but prolly in the 6k range...an lcd & 1tb hard disk..

ps:-what is the 80+ marking on corsair power supply?

Those are efficiency rate. This power supply guide which I made for few tech forums should answer all questions and doubts:
