I have a computer which has a 80GB hdd which it was detecting perfectly till recently, But now the computer just stops in BIOS itself before showing the messages for detecting the hard drive. and I have to press the reset button again 2-3 times and it randomly boots up.

I have already checked up the cables for any loose connection. But no help.
I have checked the spin-up time for HDD(thru S.M.A.R.T parameter value which is 80) and it is just fine.

Can anybody list the possible reasons that this is happening, also plz Note it was working fine earlier.

Help!

Your HDD might have crashed :( Hope u had backups

computer starts up so there is no crash, but it starts after pressing reset 3-5 time just randomly. I initially thought that is HDD spin up Issue, But that is also not the case as the SMART parameter is quite fine...

Any other problems that could lead to such position ...?

U haven't given ur Config, U can try this solution in your Bios STANDARD CMOS SETTINGS: change the IDE type from AUTO to Manual, u may have to enter ur drive parameters, also try changing the cable and updating ur Bios.

That's a simple 845 chipset based motherboard, and a P4 2.4 Ghz Processor, HDD is samsung SP0822N.
I tried Just clearing the CMOS settings and loading the default one. But it is having same problem, you keep on trying to start the computer and it will start only after when u have pressed the Reset 2-3 times...
