I have a seagate, 500GB (SV35.3) internal HDD. i am using it as an external drive with the help of a usb-to-sata adapter (TECH-COM). while transferring data, i happened to touch the wires (power and data) connected to the HDD. the HDD immediately was shown as disconnected and the transfer stopped. But since then the HDD has not been detected again. i tried restarting the PC as well as the HDD. What could the problem be?

the problem is not with the adapter since its working with another HDD.....

please help

Should have been careful from your end. Most probably the hard drive is shorted. If you want, connect via internal sata and see if your system can locate the system on your bios. If not- its time to give it for replacement.
