GRUB Gone

Subbu loves Technology
I have vista , xp and Ubuntu 8.10 in my laptop. I recently reinstalled Vista . From that day The GRUB is gone . Only windows boot loader is active and showing an opton of selecting xp or vista . What to do to restore the GRUB ?

Dont panic!! Boot from Ubuntu Live CD or any Live CD for that matter.
Open a Terminal and enter the commands one by one:
sudo grub
find /boot/grub/stage1 (this will give an output where Ubuntu is installed,like (hdx,y), say (hd0,7)
root (hdx,y) [Change x and y according to the o/p of the above command]
setup (hd0)

Thats it! GRUB will be restored :)

BTW, that was not mine find, some forum member suggested it in opensource section.:)

hey man.....dont panic in editing grub in ubuntu. I have posted this in many threads before.
Boot into vista
Install easybcd
www.neosmart.net
and add ubuntu to vista's bootloader.Thats it. No more tweaking for newbies.Enjoy!!

Its definitely new for you :) It is used to restore/boot Windows/Linux. Its very easy but very powerful.

SuperGRUB disk is pretty old and I am using it for last 1-2 years. Its very handy in GRUB related problems and one of the must have CD for Linux users.
