should i go for 1GB of 512MB ?

also is a bump up to HD5770 a worthwhile investment for me ??

No difference between 512MB and 1GB versions. Except the price.

Yes HD5770 is a big difference.

What is you screen size??

How much do you game and are medium setting OK??

if you got 22"+ monitor better go for 1GB VRAM or else it doesn't matter for low screen size.
HD5770 will be a better choice. BTW which PSU you got?

A 6850 would be perfect for you and fully balanced for your rig. If short on budget, then wait for nvidia gts 550, radeon 6770 & 6750. Then make pick your card according to your budget from these.

i thought this was the space to talk about graphic cards.

News, problems and overclocking in that section. You want to buy a Graphic card, post in the PC Components / configurations. Read the descriptions in the index page. :)

YOu don't need a CPU cooler if you won't overclock..but it is always good to have...
Vapor-X series is basically a overclocked card with better cooling...MSI has HAWK(for Nvidia) and Twin Frozr(ATI cards)...they cost a bit extra and performs better than stock...
Btw you can check my sig...the PSU will handle it easily...

if playing full hd content is what you want then 5770 is a big overkill. a 5570 fine. if gaming casually a 5670. but which games will you play?

Or you can go ahead with this and be assured that it will make one awesome combination...

MSI P55-GD65 is real good..
your RAM is good too but it has CAS latency of 9..the lower the latency the better performance..mine is CL 8..
