Which GPU to buy

max budget 22k

Sapphire 7950 VaporX or Asus GTX 760 DC2OC

As many of the games nowadays are AMD based like Crysis 3 , FarCry3 , TombRaider ,etc so should I go for 7950

Go for the HD7950. The performance of both the cards are identical. Both cards will handle all games easily at 1080p.

But the HD7950 is the one to shine above that resolution.

CAn you please mention which benchmark are you referring. The benchmark at anandtech show that 760 is ahead only in BF3. Everywhere else, either 7950 leads or is only slightly back of 760. Plus, 7950 is a better overclocker too.

Sapphire 7950 VaporX is better anyday if you don't mind the 15-20W more power consumption - just remember to flip the bios switch of the card into boost mode

^^ That card has two BIOS, one with the stock 7950 BIOS with GPU clock speed up to 80 MHz and another boost BIOS with clock speed up to 950 MHz. It has a button called Boost button which when pressed, the card operates with the Boost BIOS.

However, VaporX 7950 is more than 24K in most of the Online shops and 760 is around 20K only. So for gaming at 1080P, GTX 760 should be the choice here. It does perform slightly better than even the boost version at 1080P resolution.

760 is ahead in
Total War: Shogun 2,Sleeping Dogs ,Far Cry 3,Battlefield 3,Civilization V, Bioshock Infinite,Crysis 3 and in power consumption
gtx 760 is approximately available in 19.5k where 7950 with boost is available at 24k online. so investing in 760 is a better deal over 7950 with boost.
