Gmail Doubles Maximum Attachment Size to 20 MB

Gmail upgraded the maximum attachment size from 10 MB to 20 MB. Gmail was quite forgiving and you could send more than 10 MB in some cases, but now it's possible to send at least 20 MB in one message.

Of course, few mail providers will accept a such a big message, so it's safe to send messages bigger than 10 MB to other Gmail accounts, to Yahoo Mail Plus or to other premium accounts.

It would be nice if Gmail showed a progress bar for the upload and if uploading files to Gmail was faster and more reliable. But maybe we're asking too much.

This is simply great. A better step than providing unlimited email space with low attachment size limit.

This change will not help me but its nice to know that its possible, cause you never know when it will.

That progress bar/uploading tool would be really great.

I saw this news on Gmail but didn't have time to post it here. Anyways, it's a gr8 news. But still i rarely send attachments via email. I just upload them to primeupload.com (upto 200mb) and send the link via email! :D

I use MS Outlook to send messages via Gmail. and sending msgs with large attatchments is really faster than over from the website.

Yes, the increase in attatchment size is of-course a boon for people like me who share files of size 20-30mb with friends over e-mail.
The worst part is, Gmail does not allow you to send an exe file, even after you archieve it. Most other e-mail providers let you send executables if they are archieved, but Gmail scans the archieves and stops you from sending exe files, I HATE THAT!!!
