Hello, Sony Xperia Ion was launched with Android 2.3 & later Sony rolled out ICS Update for the same. Suppose if I buy an Import Piece of Ion from ebay with Android 2.3 (Non AT&T Variant) then will I be able to update it to ICS in India via Sony PC Companion Software? I'm confused b'coz Sony released Ion with ICS out of the box in India so do you really think that Sony India will upload a Copy/Backup of ICS for Ion to their servers? Thanks!

Anybody????

Hard to say. Most probably the software might detect your IP address and not show update.
Then again this is an assumption. Can't be sure till you find someone who has done it.

If hardware is same on both US and International versions then you can update. If official method fails, then there is pretty easy method if you are rooted. So this won't be an issue.

So is it worth taking the risk for someone who's not much into rooting or installing custom roms?

i think you can definitely flash stock ROM..sony just says unlocking the boot loader devoids warranty.
and you can root in ICS without unlocking the boot loader....not sure can anyone confirm this..

There is NO risk at all pal. And yes it maybe right that you don't even have to root to flash a stock ROM via Odin.
I don't remember my device without root for a single day, so can't say ;)

Guys, According to you what will be the expected MRP of Sony Xperia TX in India? Actually Sony Xperia TX (Import Piece) is available for Rs.31,790 with 1Yr Servo Warranty via Ebay. Is it a fair deal?
