Gfx for 3k

My friends wants to buy a GPU and has a budget of 3k-3.5k.He has this config:-
C2D E7500 2.93 Ghz
2 GD DDR3 1066
450 watt intex PSU
He doesn't want to buy a new PSU now and wants to use the GPU he buys for 2-3 yrs
Please friends tell the for which the GPU he buys would be able to play games.

i think if he buy from SMC, he'll get something like HD5570 & the PSU will not be stretched too much.

As sam said already do not go beyond HD5570 because of the PSU mentioned.

HD5570 is good choice but the price would be around ~3.5k.

If the budget is 3k not a penny more Ops friend better get GT520 1GB or HD6450 1GB GDDR5

He has a monitor of 1600x900 resolution.He would be gaming t 1600x900 if games run smooth otherwise at 1024x768 or 1280x720
Thought of 6450 but saw on all sites they are selling 1GB DDR3.So not interested much.
For 5570 will the DDR5 model come for 3.5k

Yes have told him as soon as he mentioned his budget.But he does not agree with me as he tells me a story that "9400gt 2008 me aaya aur sare games abhi tak us par chalte hai"

may be the games your friend wants to play don't have high system requirements - just tell your friend to play metro 2033 on a 9400gt - he will see how outdated it's now but if your friend is mainly playing some old / low system requirement games then his budget is ok for it

No, at 3K the GDDR5 model of HD 5570 is not available, it will cost you almost same as the price of HD 5670 512 MB GDDR5 in India. Ask your friend to increase his budget by 1K and get the Sapphire HD 5670 512 MB GDDR5 @ 4.1K. It can all the current generation cards @ lower, mid setting, including Metro 2033.

If he is trying to play Metro 2033, then he should and must go for HD 5670
anything less than that will not be able to handle Metro and similar games effectively

Is a Palit GT240 DDR3 512MB for 2.5k a better option than 5570

GT 240 GDDR5 is not werr around the 5670 DDR5 check this out

and a 5670 supports DirectX11 and pixel shader 5 and has much lower power consumption

and tell him to collect 700 bucks and go and purchase a VIP 400w psu

@Tarun I am not comparing GT240 DDR3 with a 5670.I doing so with a 5570 DDR3

GT 240 GDDR5 Vs 5570 DDR3 5570 still beats GT240 i will suggest u to go with cards with lower power consumptions bcoz i dont trust that PSU
