i pwn joo!!
hey

its been a long time since i have bought a pc and i thought i'd invest in one now.

looking for something which will help me play all current games and upcoming games at high-medium settings and will be upgrade-proof for atleast 2 years (i wont have to upgrade it till then)

i filled out the questionaire as follows :

1. What is the purpose of the computer? (Note: If you are planning to say multimedia, you will have to be more specific as all types of systems are capable of doing that)
A: To be able to comfortably support current games and decently run games which may come out in the next couple of years.

2. Are you open to alternate ideas/products giving similar better performance but offering more VFM/ sellers? If not- why?
A: yes, but as far as proccy goes, looking only at Intel.

3. What is your MAX budget?
A: 60000 INR (this is including a decent gaming mouse and a large screened monitor i intend to invest in )

4. Planning to overclock?
A: nope

5. Which OS are you planning to use?
A: windows 7

6. How much hard drive space is needed?
A: 500gb -750 gb (not looking at SSD)

7. What resolution will the screen run at & whats the size of the screen you want? If you already want have one and want to use it, mention its resolution and size.
A: looking at 21"+ screen. i run at 1024X768 currently.

8. How would you rate your hardware knowledge from the count of 1-10? (1 being the lowest, 5 being you are somewhat in sync with the current performers and 10 being the highest)
A: 6

9. Have you ever built a desktop before or will this be done by an assembler?
A: me and my cousin can build it . done it before for his desktop.

10. When are you planning to buy the system?
A: june end positively.

11. Are you one of the types looking out for "future proof" configurations?
A: yes, for atleast 2 years, though i am open to upgrading ram/gfx card if required

12. Are there going to be any components that you don't want to include in this new rig? If yes, do mention.
A: floppy disk (lol) .

13. Which city do you live in and are you open to buying from shops from other city/states?
A: Bangalore, and keen to pick something locally. (sp road types)

14. Mention any other points if deemed necessary
A: looking to keep part of my budget for purchasing a razer gaming mouse. apart from that, looking for a fairly standard gaming rig, with good graphics and a large monitor (im currently using a CRT dabba-type monitor :| )

so yea, thats about it. thanks in advance, looking forward to some responses.

@d3p
macha, does the config u suggested really need a 700w psu na?

Thats where your futureproof gets enabled macha...

Moreover, if you are interested in online shopping then get a Corsair TX750 V2. Worth & Far better than CM Silent Pro M700.

As mentioned earlier, Corsair are tough to find in bangalore, because of profit margins within local dealers.

Check Antec if possible.

this seems to be decent config, just wanted to know, is it worth investing another 5000 into HD6950 as compared to buying a HD6870 ? i dont mind taking a cheaper sound system or peripherals, in order to get the HD6950. but only if the difference between the two is considerable.

thanks once again

cheers

Upgrading from HD 6850 to HD 6950, especially the Twin Frozer III model is justified.

hey

i went to sp road today to make enquiries, get quotations and build up my final config before i purchase it.

thinking of getting a Dell 24" monitor (ST2420L) so will prolly compromise by taking slightly cheaper peripherals etc.

You can use, but you will be unable to use the main feature of the K series processor, Overclocking. K series processors, when plugged with Z68 or P67 chiset based mobo, can be be overclocked only, no other configuration will work.

If you want some more CPU performance then go for Core i7 2600 (the non K) version available round 14-14.5K. It has higher clock speed than the i5 2400 and most importantly, Hyper-threading. So you will get 8 logical cores as each of the 4 cores can process 2 threads simultaneously. As a result Multi-Threading performance will be very high in i7 2600.
