Get 4GB as price diff is only some 1.2k or somethin and no matter how much ram u have, vista can eat em all. So 4G seems to have better bang for the buck and future proof as its not easy to upgrade lappys.

but 32bit wont utilize the full 4GB and afaik Dell installs 32bit Vista Home Premium.

My XPS 1330 recognizes 3.5GB of RAM> I dont mind paying the small price difference for dual channel functionality and 0.5GB RAM being not recognised. Also, its future proof (to an extent)

You may argue that the 3GB also will be dual channel, but it is not so.

There is no 1920 for 15.4"
Only upto 1680*1050. 1920 is only for 17" display on M 1730.
btw 1440*900 looks awesome on 15.4" coz usually that resolution is cramped on 19" display and its much sharper on 1 15.4" display. Normally u can do w/o AA on most games if res is set to 1440.
1680 shud be better, but do consider that if the GPU can handle games at that resolution, and when it comes to scaling down to lower res like 1440, non native res wont be that prettier.

cant agree with u on this 1.from the 965 chipset onwards Intel supports asymmetric dual channel mode where u can run 2 diff sizes mem sticks in diff channels and they'll operate in 128-bit dual channel mode.its true that performance wont be as good as symmetric dual channel.
i'm saying this cuz i've used this type of mem config with my P5B Dlx and IP35-E.wat happens is that the latency increases.:)
