Gaming and AMD/intel at 50k

darth

Right off the assembly line
hi hi

i have been reading through these forums for a couple of weeks, but now i decided to finally buy my desktop, so thought i'd post some queries here.

first of all, my budget is about 50000 to 55000 rs. can i get a decent gaming desktop for that much?

secondly, should i go for intel or amd processor? many people tell me intel offers better performance etc etc, but some others prefer AMD. what do you guys suggest?

Lastly : i only play mmorpg games. like world of warcraft, rift, lotro etc. also play strategy games. i donot foresee myself playing fps/latest games requiring high graphics etc. however i would like a desktop which will give me maximum performance while playing my MMORPGs.

here is my reply to the questions:

1. What is the purpose of the computer? (Note: If you are planning to say multimedia, you will have to be more specific as all types of systems are capable of doing that)
A: gaming (specifically for mmorpgs)

2. Are you open to alternate ideas/products giving similar better performance but offering more VFM/ sellers? If not- why?
A: yes

3. What is your MAX budget?
A: 50-55k

4. Planning to overclock?
A: nope

5. Which OS are you planning to use?
A: win7 ( the home premium)

6. How much hard drive space is needed?
A: 500gb-1TB

7. What resolution will the screen run at & whats the size of the screen you want? If you already want have one and want to use it, mention its resolution and size.
A: i would like a 24 inch monitor. and at max possible resolution

8. How would you rate your hardware knowledge from the count of 1-10? (1 being the lowest, 5 being you are somewhat in sync with the current performers and 10 being the highest)
A: 4

9. Have you ever built a desktop before or will this be done by an assembler?
A: never built one before, and ill have someone help me assemble it.

10. When are you planning to buy the system?
A: in a week.

11. Are you one of the types looking out for "future proof" configurations?
A: yes

12. Are there going to be any components that you don't want to include in this new rig? If yes, do mention.
A: not really.

13. Which city do you live in and are you open to buying from shops from other city/states?
A: bangalore

14. Mention any other points if deemed necessary
A: please suggest AMD and intel configurations. i would like to get the best possible configuration and graphics card setup for within my budget and wont mind taking AMD too.

^^ Nice suggestion (+1 reputation) within the budget. Just one suggestion, try to get the MSI Twin Frozer III version of GTX 560 Ti, available @ 15K. This card is insanely overclocked and touch the performance of GTX 570.

#2 Gaming PC (INTEL) 55k

Core i5 2500k @ 11.3K
Gigabyte GA-Z68MA-D2H-B3 @ 9.5k
Corsair 2*2=4GB XMS3 DDR3 1600MHz C9 @ 3k
Sapphire HD 6950 2GB GDDR5 @ 16k
Corsair GS 600W @ 4.8k
CoolerMaster CM690 @ 4.2k
Seagate 1TB @ 2.7k
Logitech MX 518 @ 1.4k or Razer Abyssus @ 1.4k
MS Comfort Curve 2000 @ 1.1k
LG 22x DVD RW @ 1k

Without monitor. HD6950 2GB grab the reference card if possible, leaves possibility of unlocking to HD6970.

Also, the i5 2500k if you later on might wish, can OC easy to 4GHz+

Z68 mobo, has best of both H67 and P67 board features.

how much mmorpg consume graphics power?
i mean at 1080p with highest settings possible, which graphic card should be the optimum choice?

@ comp@ddict

Op needs a monitor buddy. Your config will be way out of budget. Gamefreak's suggestion appears more balanced.

By the way, msi 560 hawk matches or even outperforms the refference 6950 2gb a wee bit at fullhd because of its insane factory overclock. But op can go for the msi 6950 twin frozr III power edition @ 16k.
