Guys.. am planning to buy a new phone.:):)Really cannot decide between the galaxy s4 and htc one.
My budget is 40 k.
THe PROS of the s4 over htc one are -
bigger screen
better processor and benchmarks
ddr3 ram and gorilla glass 3
some of the gimmicks are good like air view, air gesture, multi windows
higher res camera
android 4.2.2 out of the box
removable battery

The CONS of s4 over htc one are -

very less storage for apps (8.8 gb) - that really sucks
cheap design (black version is fingerprint magnet)
lesser battery life
Laggy touchwiz UI
screen has oversaturated colours and lower ppi
some gimmicks are overkill like eye scroll and sound shot
Plastic Body

The PROS of htc one over galaxy s4 are -

better battery life
much better boomsound speakers and beats tech
Much better Design
Aluminium body (Not a fingerprint magnet)
feels more premium (like a 40k phone should)
HTc sense 5 ui much better than touchwiz aesthetically and in terms of functionality
Lag free UI
Better Wide angle front camera
Better low light camera
More storage (32gb - around 26 gb usable) - that rocks as u can put more apps / games in it

The CONS over s4 are -

non removable battery
low res camera
ddr2 ram and gorilla glass 2
android 4.1.2 out of the box (though upgrade has arrived)
slightly smaller screen
capacitative buttons are not positioned well

In the market htc is available for 39k while the s4 is available on india times shopping for only 37 k after mobdeals coupon.
Please suggest which is better guys.. thanks in advance.

@OP
U have mentioned about s4:
Pros: bigger screen
Cons: low ppi..

U talking from both sides lol..decide one side man..when u have bigger screen u will automatically get less ppi considering the fact that resolutions of both screens are equal and at max..anyways..u can not see pixel of 300+ ppi screen in real World.. Forget about these 400+ ppi screens.. So correct this requirement..

DDR2-DDR3? U won't find any noticeable difference..

IMO u should get that aluminum body..

buy HTC one or Sony Xperia Z
and yes.. why do you want to buy such expensive phones ??

if you dont mind filling up the questionnaire here

@takemein : dont just read the final verdict..
do you really think that he has done non-partial verdicts on the different photos taken in different environments ??

speacially the portrait mode..

and in the low-light no flash one, IMO , xperia z wins..
and almost all other ones are much biased..

although the comparison format is good at the website you mentioned, it doesn't give unbiased results..

In low light, the HTC shines. The image the camera produces is color-accurate, if a bit pale. The Galaxy S4 is no match for low-light situations and you can clearly see it struggling with the darkness. The Xperia Z's image looks the brightest and most colorful, but also shows an extreme amount of noise.

see. the pic..
the noise which is mentioned by him is actually not the noise.. it is the amount of cloth below the basket which only the xperia has taken shot of..

one last thing : you just cant beat the HTC one sound..

I might be in the minority here - but S4. Samsung is really good with software updates - even S2 would get 4.2.2 soon. And plenty of dev support too. The low light shots are a bit pointless - and HTC One overexposes when it comes to day shots.

The main advantage is stereo speakers and better outdoor visibility under direct sunlight. Personally, I would much prefer removable battery (batteries degrade over time, and your phone is toast if it's non removable) and expandable storage. And I'm assuming you'd buy a case anyways, so looks is a moot point (S4 is far from cheap looking though).

PPS: Re: low ppi - it's just gimmicky nonsense - unless you're planning to use a microscope with your device obviously. Your eyes won't be able to resolve PPI beyond a certain limit.

@n3rd you forgot to mention about the 40k piece of cheap plastic that the Galaxy SIV is built out of. Updates are slow to be rolled out on just about every OEM. any serious Galaxy SII user who wanted Android 4.2.2 would've upgraded via a custom ROM already(HTC users would also have similarly upgraded).

As much as I respect Samsung and the phones they've built, the GSIV is not worth the price. Looks exactly same as an SIII. Octa core performance you say? What will one do with such firepower on a phone? Mine Bitcoins? Even a single core phone can run all day to day apps simultaneously without much lag. Well games etc demand more than a single core only but I'm not aware of any game that works only on a Octa core is there?

^^at least dont say it octacore.. 4 of them are power saving cores which won't run simultaneously with other 4 cores..so u have only 4 cores at a time working..

N ya..who needs quad core? Even dual core phone is enough for android ecosystem..it's not windows.. The background un-closed process freezes after certain amount of time period.. Then why to use quad core phone lol..if I had 40k, would have bought good dual core phone like xperia sp and a proper camera..

lol I was only saying it for the advertised gimmick people think it to be.
I guess I've made my point.

Guys is there any way to get the 32gb Galaxy S4 in india coz 16gb of internal storage wont be enough for me. I play a lot of games and plan to put atleast 15-20gb of games on my phone. Also is the 64gb htc one available ,,,,
if yes what is its price ?

if one has 40k, s4 is definitely the phone to buy. the online reviewers have surely made fuss of the only thing they can point out on a s-series phone from samsung. But yes htc-one has a more solid build but s4 is not a cheap plastic phone, try chinese one's

Guys at samsung know what they are doing and couple of my friends have s3 and i haven't heard them complaining about build quality issues.

And bro who cares so much about camera? unless you are into clicking photos on daily basis for official purpose.Yes it shouldn't suck for a price of 40k but it surely cannot be a deciding factor unless it matters!

Another thing going for the s series is that while other phones dis-appear after a while, s-series stay in the market and offer good buy-back options. s3 is still going strongly and so will s4 in a year from now.

I bought one-s in 10/12 and most leading retail stores no longer have it on their displays and dude 25k is no less price even in today's world.

What's this nonsense about "cheap plastic"? I'm so sick of hearing this. Polycarbonate is extremely durable. By that rationale, you could say aluminum is "cheap beer can" metal too. Obviously that would be BS. And metal dents/scratches much faster than plastic and would really show - so in the end you'd have to put a case anyways, rendering the whole debate moot. You could always snap off the back cover and get a new one with S4 if you somehow get it scratched.

As for upgrades - they would lose touchwiz features IMO. Not sure about One though.

Major advantage I could see realistically is future video games and faster web page rendering. As for octa being not "true octa core", um it is.

Exactly there's so much s4 hate and most people who hate wouldn't have even spent quality time with it to judge its worth. Some tw features are immature right now but they are in no way gimmicks. Things like smart stay, eye scroll requires more work to be done and these will improve over time. The lag reports were only a firmware issue and all regions affected have had an ota roll out which fixes it. And that xda thread say it all about the octs core debacle - as the thread states the current in kernel switching implementation is immature, though it gets work done but holds huge potential for future.
10 million units sold for nothing (now don't tell me sammy faked it as they could easily be caught by analysts or market researchers). No offense the ONE is a masterpiece and has a lot going for it but bashing s4 simply because YOU think its not worth 40k is utter fallacy
