Is the fan removable? Just check out. Most of the low end cards use a removable fan. Jus pop it off and put in your own fan. afaik 5200 can do without a fan.

^^ ya its removable, i have removed the fan and will scout for it

i also called up the pune office and asked them and they said that if u taken it from a local vendor u need to go to him u cannot come directly to nvidia :?

it can do without a fan but the problem is that the display starts going dim and bright; thats when i realized that the fan isnt working

Good improvisation. .To get going it is alright, but try and get an original size fan and fix it so that the overall power consumption can be reduced.

i think he glued it to heatsink.

and for ur info Ponmayilal
a normal 80mm fan consumes max of 4~5W. There are ones with ultra high speeds but normal ones just so light on power consumption.

But the main ploblem will be the noise. The original GPU fan adjusts speed according to the temps, but now ull have to live with the noise[though not much irritating]
[i have a total of additional 4 80mm fans to cool my oced GFX card.]:D

I am not into any deep technical analysis but generally believe that it will be nice if one can restore anything to as much an original condition as possible and if possible.

.......and well, as you said the power may not be significant.

Offtopic
........and I have sometime back read an article that bemoaned people keeping all their electronics in standby. In standby condition they may be drawing very little power, but the article highlighted how many KW ( I do not remember the figure) we can save if all the people shut down their equipments instead of keeping them in standby unnecessarily. :D

My FX5200's fan stopped working 2 yrs ago.
Just removed it and still going strong. No problems even with DOOM3.
