Hi,
Whenever there are images loading taking place Firefox freezes and I cannot access it.It says "not responding".But after a while when the loading is complete it de-freezes and then I can carry with the browsing. Also i have seen that at times the CPU usage shoots up to 100% in between. My Cpu is 1Ghz P3,running winXP SP2 home.Firefox version is 2.0.0.2..ekdum latest.

Can anbody provide any solution to my problems?

Thanks in advance.

U might have removed the extensions like .html. Thats why u can't save.
Go to folder options and chech the line 'hide extensions for known file types'

@vimal....yeah I am indeed running XP SP2 Home on a P3!( i feel win98 to be much slower...as in when i am writing a cd-r the buffer keeps getting low and then the proggy(nero) fills up the buffer and resumes writing. But no such problems while using XP.Smooth as Baskin-Robbins butterscotch falvour) ;-) I have 256MB SDRAM.I have no complains about XP working fluidly on my setup as I have unchecked all the "decor".Also I have disabled some services which are not required anyway. The usual services which almost all the threads advise to disable.

Answering your second question ...No it does not happen to IE.I dont use any other browsers apart from the two.

And one more thing...If I try to scroll the page up and down..the Cpu usage peaks to almost 100%.Also If i click on any of the links on the forum...till the entire page loads the cpu usage goes 100%.

@aravind.....yeah I think I have noticed same problem with earlier versions as well. But I am not sure at this point in time.If I could know a location from where to download previous versions perhaps I could test them.

Also I have no antivirus On ...since my "rig" is already slow...I dont use a antivirus. But I do have kaspersky and i do a scan once in a while. But I am pretty sure there is no virus lurking around since I hardly visit any nasty sites.I dont put in CD's given to me by friends unless there are only and only movie files or mp3 in it.The FLOPPY drive aint working. So no floppies..:)

try disabling all the extenstions and enable them one by one. Enable only one at a time and use FF for a while and see. there could be a certain extension that is causing memory leak.

@vimal ...yeah I have formatted Like a Zillion Times....No problems yaar.
Every time I get infected by a virus I straightaway format.I dont use Antivirus coz it slows down the pc.I like to run my "machine" lean! ;-)

@ tech_your_future ...I have only one extension that I use ..NOSCRIPT.I am in love with that extension.Earlier I used to get infected by nasty malware on websites. But since I have discovered NOSCRIPT ..there is nothing like it.Just amazing.
OK..I ll try that also ..i mean ..disabling it and using the FF for a while.

Thanks guys for the help.I appreciate you guys putting in your time to solve my probs. Thanks a lot.

Ok...guys.I tried out Tech_your_future's tips ..

Umm..I disabled the Noscript and Google toolbar (damn it I forgot about it) and tried using Firefox ...well it does seem to work a bit cool.I mean now it doesnt freeze up...although the cpu touches 100% at times...but I can still use it like minimizing and stuff. Then i enabled the plugins and its working same way as it did when I had disabled them.

Perhaps it was a plugin issue. But I want to know does your cpu's max out while using FF.I mean not constantly but in-between.The memory FF uses is around 40MB.How much strenous is it using FF for browsing?? How much does it peak while You guys are using it?

Buddy, i had the same problem with the same version of Firefox-- 2.0.0.2 I have thus stopped using that rotten firefox. I use either Opera or Acoo Browser. Acoo Browser is really great. Download it here
