few QUESTIONS about system restore, backup, bootdisk..

dear friends,
I've few question to ask:

1>> Is it possible to install winXP pro without CD? i mean to say can i install from hard disk?
(copied winXP files by CD on hard disk)

2>> How can i create BOOT DISK for winXP PRO by NERO? my floppy drive is dead, so which files are essential to add on BOOTdisk?

3>> How can i take backUP of UPDATES of AVG 7, SYSTEM MECHANIC 4, SPYBOAT search&destroy, AD-AWARE se, ZONE ALARM 5.5 ?????

4>>How can i save settings of winXP file folder settings, registry, internet explorer 6, outlook express 6, WMP9, service pack updates??
i want to turn off my SYSTEM RESTORE, coz it slows down my pc so plzz tell me any other SOTWARE that works like SYSTEM RESTORE.

Yes. you can.

just let NERO create the image files

if you are in XP i guess those files will be stored under c:\documents and settings\<username>\application data (i am not sure about this)

go to c:\windows\software distribution\download. The entire directory(download) contains the windows updates that you have downloaded. Copy that and place in the same location of the new installation.

Check Norton GoBack 4.0. It is a good replacement of Win XP System Restore.

For Backup of Ad-aware SE copy defs.ref file from C:\Program Files\Lavasoft\Ad-Aware SE Professional and all files from C:\Program Files\Spybot - Search & Destroy\Updates for Spybot.

The files in Spybot are zipped. just unzip them in C:\Program Files\Spybot - Search & Destroy\Includes folder and copy defs.ref to C:\Program Files\Lavasoft\Ad-Aware SE Professional to copy new updates to restore the earlier backups..

For tranferring all ur settings or file go to Programs>Accessories>System Tools>Files and Settings Transfer Wizard and select first Old Computer and then copy on to a backup disk and use same wizard on newly installed xp and this time select ur pc as new and specify the source of backup disk and settings will be copied.

If have enough space make a clone of ur HDD and use it to restore anything from old system to new. There are many disk cloning softwares- search on google.
