External HDD Not Working Properly

My friend has WD Elements External 750GB HDD. It remain unused for couple of years but now when it get plugged it shows that the HDD can work faster if it's connected to a USB 3.0 port and no drive appears on my computer. Hard disk do normal vibration like it's running but doesn't run. Tried running on other laptops, same issue. Help!

Try changing the data cable. I had exactly the same issue with a Silicon Power 1TB disk, which would never work properly. Using a new cable may solve the problem.
