Errors during burning a CD/DVD

Hi Guys,
The problem with my computer is that whenever i try to burn (using nero 8) any dvd of 4.7GB of any brand(mostly i use sony or moserbaer) an error message gets on the display saying "Burn process failed" and "failed to complete Disk-at-once" ; but whenever i do it on a 8.5GB blank dvd it burns perfectly. can anybody tell me what could be the problem????? plz..........
My System Configuration is:
intel core 2 duo E7400 2.80Ghz processor
AsRock 945 motherboard
2GB RAM
160 GB HDD
Windows 7 Home Premium
Nvidia 8400 GS graphics card
ATAPI iHAS124 Y ATA DVD RW drive

This can happen bcoz of 2 ways-
1)You have a driver problem (This is the least probable cause)
2)The DRIvE LENS HAS SOME DUST(tHE COMMON ONE) --If ur drive is under warranty' send it 2 company.If not go for a drive cleaner kit from a comp store.
If this doesn't work and your drive is too old, go for a replacement.

change the write mode from disk at once to trakc at once and choose UDP 1.5 as disk format. Clean your Drive's lens using a lens cleaner (philips lens cleaner @ 150). might help. Try a different burning software (cyberlink power2go or infrarecorder from portableapps.com)
