DVD Writer Read Problem in XP

Hello Frnd,
My pc got a ultra problem, i got new dvd writer of sony and installed it on my pc but its not reading any cd/dvd on operating system XP but when i installed 2000 prof then its working fine, i also tried it on my frnds pc win 98 installed on that its working fine. its only giving prob with XP. I installed XP with help of this DVD, here its also wrking fine. i tried two different copies of xp but result is same. I don't know what is going on. Plz help me out. My Machine confi is Processor 2.80 Dual Core, M/B : D102G, 512 DDR2 Ram, 80 GB Sata, Sony CD-Rom and Sony DVD Writer.

Possible your cable which connects your DVD Writer to Your Motherboard is gone bad
Use a Good Quality 80pin conductor Cable
Last month i replace mine for the same problem
it will cost you around Rs. 60/-

i changed the dma settings and now its wortking fine in xp. thanks for reply
