Hi

Can anyone please solve my problem.

I have an Amd Athlon 64 bit system with 1 gb of ram and i have been using a Sony Dvd writer for a year and a half but suddenly i started facing problems with it, when ever i used to load a DVD or a Cd it used to use all my computer resources and would make my system really slow.

It took about 5 hours to write a 4.6 GB dvd and about 20 min to copy a 700 mb file.

So i bought a new writer and installed it in my system (Sony DRU 170 C) just a couple of days before.

It ran fine for a week but now it is also giving me the same problem.
Can anyone tell me where my problem is located cause i dono where to look for it.

Thanks

Its some kinda conflict with the IDE controller or some hardware resource sharing problem. Try making it slave or master[opposite to the one uve been using].
Also connect the drive alone in a seperate IDE cable if uve a free IDE slot in ur mobo. This is sure to solve the problem.

Back to School Mr. Bean !
In your BIOS try enabling DMA for the HDD & DVD Writer.
Try disabling antivirus and other resource hungry applications when you burn

Still Shining!
Try resetting the DMA
Use this tool

Else, reinstalling XP will solve the problem.

Same problem discussed here, here and here. See the solutions
