Normally DVDs have 2 or 3 audio streams encoded in AC3(Dolby Digital) or DTS.
You will not be able to play the DTS on a PC. So in the audio selection in WMP or PowerDVD, select AC3(Dolby Digital)....NOT DTS
As far as AC3, it can be 2 channel/5 channel.
If PowerDVD is configured for the wrong speaker setup, it does not play the audio, if u have a 2 speaker system, enable stereo in PowerDVD Audio settings.(It works for all kinds of Speker configs.)

Actually, to answer ur question in more detail, i'll need to know about ur speaker config., the sound card u r using, DVD software, AC3 filter u r using, etc.
If the above solution, does not work, gimme the above details........
