dvd drive

hiiiiiiiiiiii i have a hp dvd drive which was working good for 5 months or so but from yesterday it had started to give some serious problems to my pc and it isn't recognizing any cds and is making some awful sounds but dvds are ok but it still takes a lot of time to read it Due to this i have thought of replacing it with a newer one and will be going towards LG or ASUS. But i don't know which one is better. Plz do tell me

Go with anyone you like. Brands like lg, samsung, asus build almost same quality of dvd drives.
But as here most people suggest LG sata dvd drive, you may go with lg.

P.S: HP dvd drive is a piece of crap.

I would go with Asus. It comes in retail pack and has 24x speed unlike LG which has only 22x. Samsung and HP are good choices too.

There's no real gain in going for a 24x drive over a 22x one - I've never seen any disc can be read and write at even 22x speed coz most discs available in the market can't just rotate at those speeds - so while choosing a DVD drive look for godd build quality and good overall performance and read online reviews of some good DVD drives and try to find those
