pal this crackling sound is common in LG combos..no need to worry abt...although u can go 4 a lens cleaner cd to clean up the dust on the lens of ur drive...this will rduce that sound a bit...try it..

Try cleaning the drive with a good lens cleaner.

If your drive is too old (say some years) then you can open up your drive and apply some vaseline to the drive head mover mechanism.

__________
Problem is solved.

i opened th drive then applied vaseline(very small amount) to the sliding assembly of drive and it worked fine after that.
is there any specific lubricating creme is outthere to be applied.?
and what is the best thermal paste?
it is summer here and my system is little slow and i think it is due to cpu heating because i once opened the assembly and little paste got removed.

please help

thanx

U can use Test Drive from Nero. In Nero startsmart goto extras->Test Drive. There you will find many tests for the CD as well as the drive.

hi
i am posting the results fromthe nero cd speed.
please have look at them point out what is the problem.

theoratical speed is 52x but test speds are very low. i think thats why dvd movies are not playing properly. audio and mp3 are working fine.is there any software or setting which might have limited the speed or my drive is near its death.
please help.
thanx
