hi
u try this tip, by clicking on,
start > control panel > phone & modem options > Click modem tab, select ur modem and click properties.
Go to advanced tab and in EXTRA INTILIZATION COMMANDS write "at&fx1" without any quotes.
Click OK and then connect to internet.
U will get a at least 115 kbps speed.

just do one thing... Just download WMP 11 BETA 2 from Microsoft.Com... use DAP or Flash get... then report back... what was ur speed??

or rather u may also use symantec server to test by downloading that 12/13 MB NAV ofline update package...

these to server most of the time runs at their best... so this is how i judge the proper speed... so far they didnt let me down... :p

@naveed i dont think that will work for a adsl based broadband connection....which is already a 256kbps connection with should in ideal conditions deliver a speed of 32 KBps read ...kilo bytes ps.....the download speed in a adsl based BB is affected by the disturbance in the line. and sometimes the os and PC config on which it is used. there are some neat tricks available on the net for speedingup the bsnl BB.....jus google.....
