do we need hub when connecting 2 computer by lan

Hello cross link is as follow(In simple language it is the arrangment of network wire in RJ connector)

The Straightwire coding is as follow
woo wgbl wblg wbrbr


Cross wire coding is as follow
wgg wobl wblo wbrbr


(INDEX:wo-is white orange, o-is orange, wg-is white green, bl-is blue, wbl-is white blue, g-is green, wbr-is white brown, br-is brown)
