I want to and I think it is time for an upgrade (but more for enthusiasm). The items below I have will tell you what exactly needs upgrading

1) Intel Motherboard D865GBF
2) Intel Pentium 4 processor 2.80E Ghz HT based on the Prescott core. These never had the COOLing touch and pointless to say it always sounded like a turbine running and now for the last 8 months or so the heatsink starts runnnig at max speed within 15 minutes of turning on the cpu

Should I clean the damn apparatus? If so, HOW????

My heart says "lets go quad-core", but brain says "Don't forget budget constraints". I've been through the past digit issues a couple of times now but still my mind isn't settled on a cracking processor and an equally capable motherboard. I hope you can feel the pathos of an enthusiast. I don't think my parents will let me cross the 15K to 16K boundary for these two infants. DO HELP ME DECIDE !!!

He he he:p exact my condition dude with same motherboard (Intel 865GBF) and 2.8E processor.

I personally feel that we should wait for some more time to get quad core regular...then we will get it.

Update is not only restricted to Processor and Mobo but with RAM and HDD too so consider these facts too.

Choice is Yours:D

Get Q 6600 and Abit IP35 E for 10k and 4.5k
or E8400 nd IP 35E for 8.5k and 4.5k
the latter is my choice nd its really gr8 when oced to 4Ghz +. Q6600 has limited ocing compared to E8xxx.
