The i5 processor and Motherboard you have selected are old. For a little cheaper you can get the 2nd gen. i-core processors which perform much better than the previous generation.
Also avoid CM eXtreme series PSUs. You can get Corsair GS600W, which is far too better than CM eXtreme series.

The config above given by Cybertonic is perfect. You can just change the GPU to GTX-560Ti as suggested to use CUDA.

The template :

1. What is the purpose of the computer? (Note: If you are planning to say multimedia, you will have to be more specific as all types of systems are capable of doing that)
A: mid-level gaming and the most importance thing is i work in 3d applications like maya and zbrush and they require more system memory thats'y i am planning to buy 8 or 12 gb ram.

2. Are you open to alternate ideas/products giving similar better performance but offering more VFM/ sellers? If not- why?
A: yes

3. What is your MAX budget?
A: 40k

8. How would you rate your hardware knowledge from the count of 1-10? (1 being the lowest, 5 being you are somewhat in sync with the current performers and 10 being the highest)
A: 3

9. Have you ever built a desktop before or will this be done by an assembler?
A: Assembler

10. When are you planning to buy the system?
A: after 1 month

11. Are you one of the types looking out for "future proof" configurations?
A: yes

12. Are there going to be any components that you don't want to include in this new rig? If yes, do mention.

When your budget permits you to go for a very good gfx crd, why do you want to get a cheaper gfx crd??

Well for ~8k, you get:
AMD HD6770 1GB @6.5k-7k
and from NVIDIA:
NVIDIA GTX-550Ti 1GB @ 7.8k

The best deal would be to get a HD6850 @9.5k instead.

saswat23- yeah dude i will try to get GTX-560Ti @ 15k and i would like to go for 8 gb ram. i am trying to increase my budget a bit.and one more question is shud i get a after market cooler for i5 2400 or it is better to stick with the stock cooler????

Yup, going for an after market cooler will be a better choice because intel custom coolers are really crap. The temperature of my i5-2400 at an avg. is 45C-50C and at load it sometimes went to as high as 73C. So, investing on a good CPU cooler is a very good choice.

Getting a good cooler is good. But for now concentrate on getting best performance. After 2-3 months, spend ~3k on a good cooler ;)

i5-2400 can work without any cooler without any problem (again that depends on room temperature).
