I was going through TOI today and came across this newpost. And It was like DAFAQ.
Its about the maximum fine that the nuclear plant has to pay in case of any nuclear tragedy. THe amount is quite unbelievable. Just 500Rs.!!!
So in case of any unfortunate man-made nuclear disaster like chernobyl or Japan's nuclear tragedy happens in India , the maximum fine will be 500RS for the Nuclear Plant.

NEW DELHI: In case of a nuclear accident in India at present, the maximum fine that can be imposed by the regulator on an offending nuclear plant is Rs 500.

A CAG report on Atomic Energy Regulatory Board (AERB), tabled in Parliament on Wednesday, has raised concern about the weak regulatory framework in the country that could pose potential danger like Chernobyl or the recent accident in Fukushima, Japan.

Worse, the AERB, which supervises safety issues of 22 running nuclear plants across the country, has no rule-making powers nor does it have authority of enforcement and levy of penalties in the context of nuclear safety oversight.

Lost in speed
Its a shameful amendment. It is sad to know that our Govt care more for the companies, and (in this case) very very very less on people.
They think that, 500/- can equal the death of 5000 people!

Fine should be a mandatory, but that shouldn't be this much less.
500/- per person? Thats too, meagre! Perhaps, that should have more 0's.

Yeah , thats why Criminal buisness is booming in India.
People Involved in scam of billions of benjamins , a figure that can exceed the budget of many other countries , are punished with mere penalties.
Gangsters and terrorists are kept alive and are fed Biryanis & kept in Z+ security ,financed with our Tax Money.

Well , though this one is quite unbelievable(500Rs!!). Even for jumping a redlight , it burns a hole of more than 500Rs .
Someone said it right , that the Authorities must have been high on Coke.
