Creative 6.1 to laptop

Hi, I have been using a Creative Inspire 6.1 on a desktop without any problems. But now I have shifted to a laptop - Compaq Presario V2148 It has only one sound output and one mic input. I was wondering whether it was possible to use the creative speakers like before (i.e. with all the three cables connected ) Any way to use it best otherwise ???

One way would be to use splitters but that would not give you positional sound.Here the best option for you to purchase an add-on soundcard(external).Creative has the audigy 2zs soundcards for laptops which are thx certified and should give good perfomance at a reasonable cost and form factor
