Right off the assembly line
Hello,
I am planning to buy a new CPU in the next few days. Can you please help me out.
1. What is the purpose of the computer? What all applications and games are you going to run?
Ans: Surfing, movies, little gaming.
2. What is your overall budget? If you can extend a bit for a more balanced configuration, then mention this too.
Ans: ~15k
3. Planning to overclock?
Ans: Maybe not necessary
4. Which Operating System are you planning to use?
Ans: Win 7 Ultimate
5. How much hard drive space is needed?
Ans: None. I have an old drive.
6. Do you want to buy a monitor? If you already have a monitor and want to reuse it, again mention the size and resolution of monitor you have.
Ans: I have an Acer AL1702W with resolution of 1400x900.
7. Which components you DON'T want to buy or which components you already have and plan on reusing?
Ans: Monitor, Mouse, keyboard, speakers, DVD writer.
8. When are you planning to buy the system?
Ans: Immediately
9. Have you ever built a desktop before or will this be done by an assembler?
Ans: Assembler
10. Where do you live? Are you buying locally? Are you open to buying stuff from online shops if you don't get locally?
Ans: Chennai and can buy online too.
11. Anything else which you would like to say?
Ans: I need a good cabinet because my last CPU heated up too much and ruined all the other components too.
My usage isn't very much and I am not planning to upgrade it in the next 3-5 years.
I just researched a bit and thought of the following rig,
AMD 2.7 GHz FM1 uPGA A6 3670 Processor @ 6k / AMD 2.6 GHz FM1 uPGA A6 3650 Processor @ 6.5k/ AMD 3 GHz FM1 uPGA A8 3870K Processor @6.6k. Which one is better?
Gigabyte A55M-DS2 Motherboard @ 3.5k
CM Elite 310 with 400W PSU @ 4.1k / CM Elite 334U with 400 W PSU Mid Tower Cabinet @ 4.5k. Which one is better?
Corsair Vengeance DDR3 4 GB @ 1.4k
Total = 15k or 16k
I have a DVD writer, Monitor, Mouse, keyboard, speakers already.
Is this any good?
