CPU -Mobo compatibilty issue

AMD 3.5 GHz AM3 Phenom II 970 Processor with ASUS M5A88-M Motherboard. Are they compatible? Cause its written that the motherboard is AM+ socket and the CPU is AM socket. Also with a 4 GB RAM can I play most of the recent games?

AM3 proccy can be used in both AM3 as well as AM3+ motherboard.

4GB ram won't help as 880G (HD4250) is not fast to handle modern games. Even at lowest settings it may't run properly.

Can u suggest any other AMD processor within 8k? is this(Phenom II 970) processor a black edition?

955, 960T, 970T are all BE. You may go for 960 and simply overclock it to 970 level.

My main purpose is to play HD videos and games, will this combo with a graphics card is good enough? can u suggest some graphics cards within 5k which will do well with this combo. or AMD A series is better than phenom II for gaming?
