Hi ,
One of my friends asked me to configure a CPU for him.He basically wants to upgrade from his age old P4.
He provided me with a budget of approximately 8-10K.
The main purpose this PC should serve is printing photos, and connecting to a Canon Ep3300 Machine.
Operating system is Windows Xp Sp2.(Can go for Windows 7 , if it supports Canon Ep3300).
Applications supposed to be used are Adobe Photoshop and graphic editors , though there won't be any intensive high-end use.
I have made a selection of CPU,MoBo,RAM,and DVD-RW alongwith alternatives , but I am not sure about their practical performance.
Please suggest the perfect combo,
CPU:
Intel G620 2.6Ghz
Price : 2790 INR Nehru Palace, ~3400INr on Flipkart.
Specs:
Dual Core @2.6Ghz with Intel HD Integrated GFX.
LGA 1155 Socket with 32nm Architecture.
3MB L3 Cache and 256X2 L2 Cahce.
Motherboard Selection :
1.Gigabyte GA-H61M-DS2
Price : 2790INR (Nehru palace).
Intel H61 Chipset with 2xDDR3 upto 16GB.
Micro-Atx form factor.
LGA1155 cpu socket.
2.Gigabyte H61-D2H
Price : 3250INR @Nehru palace.
Specs :
Micro-Atx form factor with LGA1155 CPU socket.
Intel H61 Chipset.
4 Memory Slots upto 16GB DDR3.
1 HMDI port.
------------------------------
RAM selection :
Since most of the RAM sticks were priced ~1200rs , and had pretty much similiar features so I preferred to Opt. for Corsair 4GB DDR3 @1190INR(1333Mhz).
If there is something better available please suggest.
DVD-RW :
Most of the basic DVD-RW were around 1k-1500.
I preferred to go with SONY SATA DVD-RW @976.
Although there are Samsung/LG ones available at 950INr.
---------------------------------
I also considered AMD as an alternative to INtel , though I have heard that AMD's are less stable than Intel.I hope thats practically based only for high-end CPU's and OverClocking situations.
CPU :
AMD Athlon II X2 260 Dual Core
Priced at 3200INR(Nehru palace.)
-Dual Core CPU with 3.2Ghz clock speed.
-Featuring 2MB L2 Cache.
It supports DDR2 as well as DDR3 1333Mhz.
It sits on a AM3 socket.
Motherboard :
Gigabyte GA-78LMT-S2P
2 memory Slots upto 8GB DDR3 1333mhz.
Couldn't find any motherboard under 3000INR for AMD Am3 socket with DDR3.
If there are some good alternatives available , plz post them.
-------------------------------------
Btw , I have never configured any AMD based system earlier so I was wondering if there are any complexities involved , In case I have to go for AMD.
Regarding cabinet and power supply I have not figured any choices yet.
However there is a requirement that the CPU cabinet, should be as small as possible.Price range not exceeding 1k.
Please suggest some choices within 9K INR.
BTw , he already has a 80GB IDE HDD. I am not sure if this can be utilised on the new system.I was wondering if an IDE to sata converter would do the job.
Apart from CPU,Mobo,RAm,DVD-Rw,HDD and Cabinet+SMPS what else would be useful in building a Basic CPU .?
I have to build the CPU till Sunday.
Thanks,
Rishi.
