naughty boy :) :)
My current config is 4400+, nVidia mobo, 2 X 1 GB 533 MHz Ram,
8600 GT 512 DDR3 , samsung 2033:-D . I also have a 800 VA Hykon ups.
Now i am using zeberonics 450 SATA PLUS smps. i would like to upgrade my psu. my budget is 4k - 4.3k. i would like to buy a good one because in future i may upgrade my cpu , mobo and gpu to a good one(say phenom 2 and 9800 gtx). At that time i may not find the money for upgrading my psu. thats y i am planning to do that now. which psu should i go for such a rig.

Tagan claims TG600-U37's efficiency as 83% but it seems that have not released the operational temps. Some companies claim to be 80 plus without mentioning the operational temps. Corsair has said it with complete transparency that their psu is 80% efficient of operational temps of 50 degrees celcius. Tagan's OEM of topower who have a share of good and bad OEM and retail versions. Corsair has seasonic OEM- which is always known to be good hands down.
My personal preference would be a corsair vx450w over this.

Can it handle , say phenom 2 and 9800 gtx

It should- based on specs anyways. But as you said on TE only corsair vx450 is available in your area. Does tagan give 5 year warranty like corsair vx450?

Both Tagan and Corsair are gr8 brands... so u can buy any one of those..

I recently purchased Tagan PSU 1100W (model BZ1100) -------> Rs. 14.1K
----------

But, yes for lower power consumption PSUs, say upto 750W, go for Corsair.. :)

ALso, Tagan also gives a 5 yr warranty on its PSU. :)

This is Grand. Why dont you as well buy the processor as after few days you may not have money for the processor.
If you think the prices may fall in future dont you think the same may happen with PSU.

^^ Rightly said, :D
------------

Coz, a 4-4.5K for a PSU is jus NOT good enough to buy the OP a decent PSU, :(
forget abt futureproofing alone.. :D
---------------

U wanna futureproof ?? then see my config..then u'll understand.. :D
--------------

But yes, as a pure reality, nothing is futureproof these days...tats the saddest part, our config must be the latest among other ppl, but till wat time ?? jus for 6-7 Months...

Then companies release all new products and boom...we slowly start to walk on the forbidden road known as "prehistoric age PC".. :D:D

What do people even mean by future proof?
Keeping the current situation and information available, vx450 is worth the extra dough. Tagan did not release the operational temps for this psu? Efficiency drops when temperature increases. One of tagan's 1000w model was exposed that they had immature and unprofessional soldering and improper capacitor installation. Not that I am saying it could be the same for this system, but tagan is no way transparent when it comes to giving proper information.

Well, going for VX450W is good enough. You won't need more. But keeping it future proof, you can go for:-

Corsair VX550W @ 5-5.4k

IT's a good choice, and can handle 9800GTX and Phenom II too.

I would still suggest you first decide on the processor ,graphic card mobo and if whether you are ever going to go for SLI or Crossfire in the future.
If SLI or Crossfire is def not in consideration even a decent 2 Tier PSU of about 600Watts with 80% efficiency will serve you better.
Still i dont like the idea of buying anything when you dont have the complete rig in picture. If you think you will not have the money later for PSU buy Gold (whatever grams ) and sell it whenever you are final with the Complete Rig.
That way you will not spend the money you kept for PSU and for another year atleast there is only one way the gold is going and that is north.

from all ur suggestions i am not going to upgrade my psu alone. for now my current config is working fine. Wen i upgrade my proccy and mobo i will change my psu also.
Thanks to all who give their valuable points.....

I have 4 hard drives, 1 ide 160 gb, 1 ide 250 gb, 1 sata 250 gb, 1 sata 500 gb and a dvd writer. I have a local power supply of Rs450 and it makes huge noise and not all hard drives can be connected at the same time and if i do more than 2 hard drives. i believe my smps does not supply enough power for my pc. I was checking the cooler master 600w and Corsair VX 450 and TaganTG600-U37 .

my configuration is

AMD Athalon X2 4400+
2 GB DDR2 800
Gigabyte M57SLI-s4

Can anyone recommend a good configuration

Corsair vx450. Its not even a contest. i would recommend you to run a stress test and check for bad sectors on your hard drives. You will have to make sure that the old power supply didnt damage your components. For any reason- do not run a stress test OR check for bad sectors using that crappy power supply or else it will damage it for you.

Did you mean that Corsair VX 450 is the best option to go with? one of my IT beginner friend was telling that TaganTG600-U37 is a very known brand. But i was unable to find much of reviews about that in website/internet and decided to ask some experts like you. But would add Cooler master Extreme power 600w to cart and think for hours and close the website without buying it.
Btw.. I just have a Zebronics Rs.1200 cabinet. Should i change my cabinet as well if i need to change my power supply?
I was really breaking my head on thinking if i should spend some extra money and go for corsair 650 tx but the cost 7300rs makes me open my mouth wide wide open and keeps my wallet out of reach.
I am planning to get my system back to my village and grab a new system retaining the hard drives by the end of the year. But with my system smps i am afraid cant stay that long healthy. I might go with a Quadra Core cpu with a good motherboard with a 8000series or 9000 series graphics card. Will Vx 450 be good enough ?
^^^ I am really trying to get rid of noise in my comp. That will be my main aim as well^^^
Totally appreciate your help,,,
