Let the music play.....
Now I have an external modem DLink 56kbps. I hooked it up and entered the setting (as per the best of my knowledge). The modem dials and when it is supposed to logon to the network it gives an error no. 19 and says that the kppp daemon died suddenly. I dunno why does this happen. I have a VSNL dialup account .net one. and am using the modem on COM0 port. Please help me.

I too used the external modem before the data one thing. What i suggest is use wvdila its simple and all it needs is to set the conf in /etc/wvdial.conf thats all. Sorry no idea about the kppp stuff

Maybe this can help.
From the KPPP dialog, go to Configure > Modem and uncheck the checkbox saying, Wait for dial tone before dialing

see what happens!

Debian was given with Dec/Jan issue of PCQuest. You can obtain it's dvd. Also, if you're considering cds then it will take about 8 CDs
