Asus service is pretty good, they provide onsite warranty.
Asus laptops are having very good build quality and very good specs @ very good price..
I understand that people don't know much about asus and tend to by a product of a popular brand or can say of which one sees good advertisements.
But I suggest you to take your friend to Asus showroom and then decide.

buy hp. you get onsite warranty. and yes the support is good. make sure you get 3yr extended warranty.

In Asus also onsite warranty is there and their service is also good.
So why one should consider HP over Asus when one is getting better specs @ better price in Asus and too without any heating issues
