you can watch some video reviews, you can decide if you like the iOS or Android. then proceed to buy the phones. Basically with iOS you will get the solid OS experience, Apple Ecosystem, Great Apps. But with Android you get deep customizations, huge variety of phones to choose from, custom ROMS and better functionality.

for Android - Galaxy Note 2, Nexus 4, One X+, Galaxy S3.

Genius in making mistakes
For smooth n fluid experience iPhone leads.. For customization n tweaking android rocks..

If you don't want to mess around with your phone , "Get an Iphone".Simple , easy , and stable.
However , If you want to probe deep into your phone and are planning for custom ROMS, UIs , etc ,etc. Go for Droids.

End of Story.

And Btw , both are smartphone and are equally good. Though , IOS leads in gaming platform due to efficiency.

If you are currently using iphone...please don't look beyond an iphone. I know from my sisters experience who has both and she feels an iphone pawns S3 in user/app experience hands down.

@Krow - hTC One X+ is not a smartphone? Lo...mujhe toh pata hi nahin tha!
 Making dumbass posts is not going to help you. Grow up. :)

Just to put it in context, since all Android phones are smartphones, you don't need to say Android smartphones all the time. That's just like saying, "My son is a boy." Secondly, I meant iPhone is the best smartphone overall. Ecosystem, hardware, UI design, etc included.

@OP:
Well two different OS, different quality, addressed to different people, can't compare them. You first think about your usage pattern, if you need a device which 'just works' and works fluidly and buttery, go for iPhone 5 eyes closed, and if you want 'customisation', 'openness of OS' and don't bother about fluidity or buttery smooth UI, go for the other one. But if size doesn't matter for you skip the SIII and pick a Note II, you will see how valuable an extra 1 GB RAM could be in real life usage.

I'm sorry, the S3 is NOT a great
device. It's clumsy, cheap
plastic, loaded with bloat, and
isnt as smooth as people claim it is. I sat down with it for a
while and was nervous that it
might make me second guess
getting the iPhone 5. Well, im
happy to say it had exactly
the opposite effect. It's got a lot of bells and whistles, most
of them useless in real world
use (although it did have a
few cool things), and that's
about it. IMO iPhone blows it
away. And the build quality ,performance doesn't even.. compare a little
bit. Keep ur S3. And I'll gladly
keep my iPhone

You high?

Get SGS 3, better yet Note II if size isn't an issue for you.

And I am currently drooling over this: HTC J butterfly announced in Japan with 5-inch, 1080p display - GSMArena.com news

One X+ is the best Android. iPhone is the best smartphone
Oh wow, I don't even.......

Hey, If you buy your phone based on build quality then so be it, do not get into a mudslinging match here with something that you do not own. 30 million S3s have been sold already and if it was clumsy, cheap, bloated etc it would not have sold. Check how many sleek One X or well built 4S has sold last quarter. In a world where Android democratizes the operating system features, bells and whistles are necessary for product differentiation.

I think there needs to be a dedicated thread for Samsung Galaxy S3 vs iPhone. Or rather a smartphone buying guide thread, because there will be more threads like this one to come.

What people need is a thread for "Whether Android or IOS ? " .
