computer freezes all the time

OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit
CPU: AMD Phenom X4 9650, 2300 MHz
Motherboard: Asus M3A78-EM
Chipset: AMD 780G, AMD K10
Memory: 3328 MB
Video Adapter: ATI Radeon HD 3200 Graphics
Audio Adapter: ATI RS690 HDMI @ AMD RS780(M) Chipset
Audio Adapter: ATI RS690 HDMI @ ATI SB700
Disk Drive: ST3500418AS ATA Device (500 GB, 7200 RPM, SATA-II)

my problem was ;pc freezes on inserting a disk into dvd drive (hd activity stops for that period ) and it unfreezes after 10-15 secs .also sometimes i got "reset occured" in nero.
so to resolve this i seperated hd and dvd drive on separate sata power cables.this problem was solved for a period.
now it has started again anytime whether opening any folder ,accessing any file ,playing game or opening a program.i have scandisk & defragmented my whole hard disk (there are some bad sectors 4-8 kb).seagate seatools says smart test passed.
activesmart program shows disk health and performance is good.some parameters changes while running the system.but the problem is still there.my psu comes with the cabinet that is of mercury.may be psu is not giving enough power or is there any other reason

Might be a virus. Scan with a updated anti virus or use this online AV

Your DVD Drive might be responsible for this too. Try to use another DVD Writer from someone in your system and remove the existing one. Then check if the problem is still present or not.

Try switching off the antivirus before you insert the disk. I know it may sound unlikely but the av might be the culprit (has happened with me).

firstly i tell you that the problem with freezing on disk insertion is solved by putting dvd drive on separate sata power cable. (i always burn with av off and right now i have disconnected it from the pc ,still my pc freezes).hard disk makes a clicking sound and pc freezes.
i have also observed that decreasing the swap file decreased the frequency of freezing problem.
i have scanned it with comodo cloud scanner and spybot ,nothing unusual .
i also scanned with trend housecall ,result-no threats found. (it freezed while scanning also).

Check eventlog.

in eventlog ,no yellow or red marks in apllication/system in the period of freezing. it's just information.

i checked seagate website ,it says check your drive with seagate seatools for any faults in hard disk and run the tests.apply for rma if the hard disk doen't pass the test with error code.
i have ran the test and it passes the test.

it has stopped freezing when i exchanged the sata cable & sata power cable of hard disk and dvd drive.does that mean sata data or power cable was faulty.or i don't have enough power in psu.

a fine working hard drive should not have any raw value other than 0 for Reallocated,Current Pending & Uncorrectable Sector Count.raw value other than zero for UltraDMA CRC Error Count usually indicates cable/power problem & should stop increasing with change of cable/psu.however the other 3 parameters values usually indicates deteriorating condition of hard disk.keep monitoring these values on a daily basis & if they continue to increase even after changing cable & psu then your hard disk is failing slowly.
