is there a way we can check the integrity of system files in Windows XP
as we can use System file checker in Win 98 or through any 3rd party utilities.

If you have AVG or Norton Antivirus programs, on starting a virus scan of the whole pc, it always checks the system files.
You can indicate the program to check for only sytem files.
