I'm tired of getting shouted at by my parents for draining the balance from our mobile.

Is there a cheaper online service to send SMS to Indian numbers, than from cell phones?

Skype charges more than what Airtel charges. And those who offer free SMS either put ADs or make it mandatory for the reciever to reply. So, I don't want to use these services.

(I doubt there are any such service, but still I'm curious!)

If u are in Orkut, there is an Orkut Application from MyCantos. U can use it to send sms for free to any number in India. And its free too.

May not be what you want, but if you happen to have a BSNL Sancharnet dial-up account, you can send an SMS nationwide at 30p per message. I have broadband now, but I still keep my dial-up account alive for emergency use for those times when their broadband is down. I use the SMS service occasionally.

I already use 160by2, only problem with them is their ADs.
Yahoo has a 5 message limit, I used it a month ago, but it was very good and easy.
MyCantos was good too.

Thank you everybody, for such quick replies.

Even I use atrochatro.com but the problem is that our messages are not always delivered.

So, now I've found a new way out.
I've a Reliance connection and I just recharge with a SMS Pack.
So, I get 400 free National SMS's in Rs. 50 /- . But, the validity is 1 month only.
