cd rom problem

i have got to cd drives in my system.
one old cd rom drive and a new dvd writer.
both of them were working fine until recently

but now the cd rom has developed some problems.

first of all i am unable to boot from that cd rom whereas when i put the cd in the dvd rom , it boots fine

no 2 .. i m unable to copy anything from the cd rom to hard disk

and last i m unable to use it as source drive while writing a cd which i cud do in the past

plz help

well, prima facie, it appears ur cd-rom drive has just bid adieu. get a new one, or get a dvd-rom drive if u wanna do on-the-fly copying.

Is the CDROM recognised by your BIOS? What error message do you get when you copy files from it?
