Catalyst control centre: Host application has stopped working

Just after booting into win 8 I'm getting this error "Catalyst control centre: Host application has stopped working
windows is collecting more information about the problem". I think this has got to do something with win 8 since I didn't get any such errors in win 7. This only began after I did a clean install of win 8. Due to this I'm not able to open graphic properties and switchable graphics. Games are working fine without any lag which means my graphic card is working. I've tried the driver from hp site as well as the 13.4 which was downloaded from amd.com.

Do you have the latest version of catalyst driver and the correct version which is for Windows 8?

I had the problem, only a complete removal and reinstall of CCC worked.

Make sure you have updated version of Framework and then make sure that you have the right version for Win 8 as Win 7 version sometimes creates problem. Also try uninstalling it completely using Driver Sweeper and then install it again.

I haven't done the windows update. 1 gb of it is remaining. . Probably will solve the problem.

EDIT: Updating the windows and reinstalling of CCC after that didn't work. But I found this solution. Just go to c:/users/your_name/appdata/local and delete the ati folder. If you don't see the folders enable show hidden folders and uncheck hide protected system files.
