Broken In
I'm using WinXP and I've recently converted my drives from FAT32 to NTFS. I
used PC Inspector File Recovery 3.0 for recovering my deleted/lost files
which are mostly jpg, avi/dat and pagemaker files. While some jpg files
have been recovered successfully, other couldn't be opened in IrfanView on
recovery. A pop-up message saying, "....Can't read file header! Unknown
file format!" always appeared. Also, some folders but not their contents
were only recovered. Why? Also, I couldn't not open some folders/files.
"....is not accessable. Access is denied" appeared. Please give me the reason. Why the problem occured?

A data recovery software reads whatever is still recorded on the magnetic surface. You probably do not defragment your hard disk regularly and portions of your files and folders were scattered all over the place in non-contiguous sectors. When you saved anything after you deleted those files, parts of the file were overwritten while other portions are still intact.
