cannot install linux suse personal 9.1 edition...

Right off the assembly line
hey guys,

i just tried installing the suse personal 9.1 linux installation.
but i cannot install it.

my pc config is celeron 400mhz, 8 gb hdd. 2 partitions of 4-4 gb.
winxp running on one of them.

i made the cd using the iso image. and i also took cd as boot option
but it said that cannot boot from this cd...try using cd2 or upgrade
the bios.???

what do i do....any other way of installing it from my cd...

plzz help i m dying to see linux on my pc.

i would like to format my xp and have linux instead...

yup heres the solution

step1 ...remove a logical drive the last one from windows diskmanagement ....(right click on MY COMPUTER ICON and click manage and go to storage ...u will figure out easily ...

step2..)

Now boot using the cd

step3..) Follow the instruction carefully and when asked install grub as boot loader

step 4 u will now find a dual boot system.

step 5 after successfull installation do tell me

Right off the assembly line
but the problem is that i m not able to boot using the bootable
cd of suse linux.

it says "cannot boot, use cd-2 or upgrade bios"

so tell me what can i do for that...

can i make bootable floppy instead...???

or any other way ?

Then i think, your BIOS is very old, since you say its a Celeron 400Mhz.. You might want to upgrade your motherboard firmware to get rid of all the problems.

For making a boot floppy, look inside your dosutils folder. You will see some kernel images.. look for a floppy boot file. and then use the rawrite.exe utility to write the boot floppy...

The CD might also be having documentation on how to use the boot floppy using rawrite utility.
