Hi,
I bought a Seagate barracuda 80gb ST380215A 7200.10 to replace my 20gb harddisk. I have not yet removed the seal. My question is, does this work on a intel 815 motherboard? There is no mention of IDE on the disk, it just says ultra ATA/100.

After googling a bit, most of the websites say this series supports New perpendicular recording technology, i don't know if this works on my pc or not. plz reply soon...

The 80GB IDE HDD you got will work on a P3 machine.
For your query, the HDD is only depending on the type of interface you have on your motherboard like SATA/IDE or both. It does not depend on the features it is using. If they tell IDE, it will work on a M/B having a IDE socket.

FYI, I am using a 160GB IDE HDD on my Pentium Celeron comp. It works perfectly fine. :D

yeah it's working fine. i wanted to buy a larger harddisk, but my motherboard supports a max of 120gb, they did'nt have 120gb, so ended up buying only a 80gb one.
